The DiGiCo X-D-RACK-2 is a professional floor-mounted I/O expansion rack designed for use with DiGiCo SD-Series consoles. It provides 32 microphone/line inputs and 8 line outputs as standard, with an expansion slot available for increasing the output capacity. At 48 kHz, the rack supports up to 32 inputs and 16 outputs when fitted with the appropriate expansion module. At 96 kHz, it supports up to 28 microphone inputs and up to 16 outputs. This provides flexible connectivity for professional live sound and production systems. The X-D-RACK-2 is particularly suited to applications requiring a larger number of remote inputs without using analogue multicore cabling.
High-Quality Mic/Line Inputs
The D-Rack provides 32 XLR microphone/line inputs with a gain range from -10 dB to +60 dB. Each input incorporates professional analogue front-end circuitry with 48.3V phantom power for compatible condenser microphones and active equipment. The maximum input level is +22 dBu, while the input impedance is 2500Ω, increasing to 2650Ω with the pad engaged. An analogue EIN of 127 dB and dynamic range of 113 dB support clean signal capture in demanding applications. The rack also provides a CMRR greater than 71 dB at 1 kHz for effective rejection of common-mode interference.
Flexible Output Expansion
The X-D-RACK-2 includes 8 XLR line outputs as standard and provides a dedicated output expansion slot for increasing the available output count. Compatible expansion options include an additional 8-channel line output card, 8-channel AES output card, or 16-channel Aviom interface. This modular design allows the rack to be configured according to the requirements of the production system. The maximum output configuration can reach 16 outputs when the appropriate expansion option is installed. Maximum output level is +22 dBu. This makes the D-Rack suitable for monitor feeds, loudspeaker processing, recording systems, and other professional signal distribution applications.
Digital Connectivity and Optocore Options
The D-Rack uses MADI RJ45 connectivity for digital communication with compatible DiGiCo systems. Optional fibre connectivity can be added through MultiMode or SingleMode Optocore interfaces using HMA, OpticalCON, or ST connections. Optocore fibre speeds of 1G or 2G are supported depending on the installed configuration. Fibre connectivity provides additional flexibility for longer-distance stage-to-console connections. The digital architecture helps eliminate the hum and noise associated with traditional analogue multicore systems. A USB 2.0 Type B port is also provided for system connectivity and service functions.
Dual Power Supply Configuration
The X-D-RACK-2 is identified by its dual-PSU configuration, providing two internal power supplies for increased operational redundancy. The rack accepts 88-264VAC power at 47-63Hz with a maximum current requirement of 2.8A. The redundant power architecture is particularly useful for professional touring, fixed installation, and critical live production environments. If one power supply encounters a fault, the redundant configuration can help maintain system operation. An optional single-PSU version is identified by the X-D-RACK-1 product code. The X-D-RACK-2 therefore provides an enhanced level of power reliability for demanding systems.
Gain Tracking and Professional Construction
DiGiCo Gain Tracking allows compatible systems to coordinate input gain adjustments while helping maintain appropriate signal levels across connected console positions. This is particularly useful in shared-input environments where multiple engineers may need control of the same microphone signals. The rack can also be installed using the optional 7U rack-mounting configuration. Its compact floor-mounted enclosure measures 412 mm wide, 179 mm deep, and 310 mm high. With a 10 kg chassis weight, it provides a practical balance between portability and professional durability. The D-Rack can also be used as a standalone rack in suitable system configurations.
