Fostex T60RPmk2ai RP Semi-Open Stereo Headphones with Awa Aizome Indigo Maple Housing

The Fostex T60RPmk2ai is the first Made-in-Japan model in the T60RP series, assembled at Fostex's domestic factory around the fourth-generation RP planar magnetic driver, a full-range diaphragm design Fostex has been refining since 1974.

Its hard maple housings are dyed by Awa Aizome indigo artisans in Tokushima, hand-coated and dried over repeated cycles so that natural indigo settles into the grain differently on every unit, leaving deep blue tones with the wood figure still visible and no two cups exactly alike. Internal wiring is 7N grade (99.99999 percent) high-purity OFC, and Toray Ultrasuede ear pads are fitted as standard for a soft, moisture-resistant fit over long sessions. The semi-open enclosure gives the RP line's characteristic resolution and spatial presentation.

Awa Aizome Indigo Dyeing

Awa Aizome is a traditional natural indigo dyeing craft from Tokushima Prefecture. Each maple housing is hand-dipped and dried over repeated cycles by specialist artisans, so the indigo penetrates the wood rather than sitting on the surface as a lacquer would. The result is a deep blue that still shows the grain beneath, and a finish that is unique to each pair.

4th Generation RP Series Driver

The RP technology planar magnetic driver has been developed and manufactured in-house for over 50 years and has continued to improve with each new version. Now in its fourth generation, it features an updated coil design that helps the thin, flat diaphragm move more evenly and efficiently. The number of magnets around the diaphragm has been increased, giving stronger and more controlled movement, and the magnetic system has been redesigned to reduce unwanted vibrations and improve how quickly the driver responds to sound changes.

Toray Ultrasuede Ear Pads as Standard

Where the standard T60RPmk2 offers Ultrasuede pads as an option, the T60RPmk2ai fits them from the factory. The material has a velvety touch and breathable comfort, enhances low-frequency presence, and delivers a smoother, more relaxed sonic character.

Dual-Y Termination

Both left and right housings are equipped with 3.5 mm receptacles using a dual-Y cable connection. The 2-pole 3.5 mm connector improves cabling compatibility and versatility and features high-quality OFC conductors. An optional balanced cable is available separately.
