What is a DJ booth?
A DJ booth is a folding workstation that combines a work surface for your controller, mixer or turntables with front and side panels that hide cables and gear. Most portable DJ booths weigh about 40 to 50 lbs, set the work surface about 34 to 37 inches from the floor, and come with black and white scrims and a carry bag. A DJ podium is a freestanding stand built around your controller, often with rack space or a faceplate cut for a specific controller.

How much does a DJ booth cost?

What is a good portable DJ booth for mobile DJs?
Look for a booth you can carry in one trip: about 40 to 50 lbs, a work surface around 37 inches high, black and white scrims and a padded bag. The Headliner Solana, one of our best-selling booths, is a trifold powder-coated steel booth that weighs 44 lbs, with a 44 x 20.5 inch countertop at a 37-inch working height, black and white scrims, two cable grommets and a padded bag with a divider. The Headliner Indio weighs just under 40 lbs, is built from 1.3-inch aluminum tubing and includes a white wraparound scrim. The Odyssey Metal Works booth comes with a laptop stand, a laptop/speaker monitor stand, a microphone holder, a TV mount bracket and a padded bag.
Will my DJ controller fit?
Measure your controller or full setup and compare it with the work surface. The Solana's 44-inch countertop fits everything from 2-channel controllers to large all-in-one DJ systems, and the Indio fits a Pioneer XDJ-XZ, a pair of media players with a club mixer, or turntables in battle position. For wider setups, the Odyssey DJBOOTHM78 has a 69 x 27 inch lower surface. Odyssey's DJ podiums come in versions for specific controllers, such as the RANE Performer, RANE ONE and DDJ-1000/SRT podiums, so choose the version that matches yours.
Can I mount a TV or lights on a DJ booth?
Yes, on booths built for it. The Odyssey DJBOOTHM78 includes a TV mounting bracket and supports up to an 80-inch TV, the Odyssey ATRUSSDJBOOTH01 truss-style booth supports displays up to 70 inches, and the Odyssey DJBOOTHM46 and DJBOOTHM65OP media booths are sized for 46-inch and 65-inch screens. The Odyssey Metal Works booth and the Humpter B3 include a TV mounting bracket, and the Headliner Indio TV Mount adds a TV up to 55 inches and 27 lbs to the Indio booth, whose aluminum frame is compatible with standard 35mm Jr clamps for lights. The Gator GFW-DJFACADE-TVM, a folding facade with its own tabletop, holds a display up to 70 inches.

How much weight can a DJ booth hold?
Ratings vary by model, and not every listing states one. ProX rates its Z-Table MK2 and Z-Table JR to hold up to 200 lbs evenly distributed, the MESA MK2 facade table up to 150 lbs, and the Vista up to 100 lbs. Check the product page before loading a booth with heavy gear.

What is a DJ podium?
A DJ podium is a freestanding workstation on a single base, built around your controller and often with rack space and cases. The Headliner Malibu has a 39 x 19 inch workspace at 35.8 inches, 18U of 19-inch rack space, a removable laptop stand and swiveling mic and headphone hooks, and assembles in three pieces without tools using heavy-duty draw latches. Odyssey's controller podiums come in 37.5-inch and 40.5-inch heights with an articulating laptop arm and a wheeled flight case. The Magma Groove Terminal packs into two road cases so your controller and 19-inch gear can stay mounted between gigs.
Do I need a booth or just a facade?
If the venue supplies a table, or you already own one, a DJ facade is enough to hide cables and dress up the setup. If you want one piece that is both the table and the front, choose a booth.
