What is F34 square truss?
F34 is four-chord square truss: four aluminum tubes at the corners of a square, braced diagonally, joined end to end with conical connectors. It is the workhorse of the F-series and the profile you want for anything structural, because four chords resist bending in every direction rather than only one. If you are building a goalpost over a DJ booth, a roof grid, a trade show gantry or a span that has to carry moving heads, F34 is the normal answer.
What lengths and brands do you stock?
Straight segments from 1.64 ft (0.5 m) through 9.84 ft (3 m), all with 2 mm wall tube and conical connectors, from three brands: Global Truss SQ-41xx, ProX XT-SQ, and Show Solutions SCT290. We also stock pivot hinges such as the ProX XT-SQPVT for variable-angle corners. Build a run by adding segments end to end and finishing with corners and base plates.
Do I need F34, or will F32 do?
Use F34 when the truss carries load across a span, when anything is over people, or when you want one system that handles both. Use F32 when you are hanging a light row against a wall or across a short gap and want to save weight and money. The practical test is the span and the fixture weight: a 20 ft goalpost with moving heads is F34 work, a 10 ft row of par cans on a backdrop is comfortably F32. When in doubt, F34.
What is a conical connector?
A conical connector is a tapered pin driven into a matching tapered socket in the end of each chord, secured with a spigot and R-clip. The taper pulls the two segments together as it seats, so the joint ends up tight rather than sloppy, and the run behaves closer to one continuous beam. It is why F-series truss can be assembled and struck quickly with nothing but a mallet and clips, and it is the reason segment lengths are interchangeable within a series.
How much can an F34 span carry?
It depends on the span length, the support points and whether the load is spread or concentrated, so there is no one number. Each manufacturer publishes a load table for its own F34 parts and that is what to rig from.
