The Fostex TH900mk2 is a premium limited-edition closed-back headphone built around the acclaimed TH900 platform. Its housings are crafted from carefully selected Mizume-Zakura, a Japanese cherry birch valued for its fine, dense grain, and finished in a distinctive Bordeaux-colored Urushi lacquer. The lacquer work is hand-applied and polished by Sakamoto Otozo Shoten, a Japanese lacquer specialist with more than a century of history, giving each headphone a unique depth, texture, and visual character.
At the core of the TH900mk2 is a 50mm BioDyna bio-cellulose diaphragm driven by a powerful 1.5 Tesla magnetic circuit. This combination delivers the extended low-frequency performance, natural and detailed midrange, and articulate high frequencies associated with the TH900 series. With a frequency response extending from 5Hz to 45 kHz, the headphones are designed to reproduce a wide range of musical detail with impressive resolution and dynamics.
The TH900mk2 also features a detachable 2m 7N high-purity OFC cable with rhodium-plated 2-pin connectors, allowing compatible Fostex balanced cables to be used. Protein leather ear pads with low-rebound cushioning provide a comfortable fit for extended listening sessions. The LE designation refers to the simplified packaging configuration: the headphone retains the same Bordeaux Urushi finish and core performance as the standard TH900mk2 while being supplied with a 2m cable and faux-leather pouch instead of the standard model's wooden headphone stand and 3m cable.
