Descripción
The DiGiCo MOD-DMI-AMM provides up to 64 channels of automatic microphone mixing for compatible DiGiCo systems. It is designed to simplify live sound applications involving multiple microphones and unpredictable dialogue. The system automatically increases the gain of the microphone being used while reducing the gain of other microphones. When the active speaker pauses, microphone levels return toward a shared medium gain state. This creates a natural mixing effect similar to multiple speakers sharing a single microphone. The automatic gain-sharing process helps engineers manage complex multi-microphone applications more efficiently.
Intelligent Gain Sharing
The DMI-AMM automatically distributes available microphone gain according to which speakers are actively talking. When one person speaks, that microphone receives a greater proportion of the available gain while other channels are reduced. When multiple people speak simultaneously, the available gain is shared between the active microphones. Each channel includes a Share Meter displayed as a percentage rather than a dB value. This provides an easy visual indication of which microphones are receiving the majority of the available gain. The result is a clear and intuitive way to monitor automatic microphone activity during a live event.
Per-Channel Weighting Control
The DMI-AMM provides adjustable weighting for each individual microphone channel. This allows engineers to control the relative sensitivity of the automatic microphone mixing system on a channel-by-channel basis. A quieter speaker can therefore be given additional weighting so their microphone can effectively take over the system when they begin speaking. This provides greater control over different speaker levels and microphone positions. The weighting system helps maintain consistent automatic mixing performance across varied participants. It is particularly useful for conferences, panel discussions, meetings, and other multi-speaker applications.
Noise Floor Control
The DMI-AMM includes noise floor control to help prevent unwanted microphones from receiving an excessive share of the available gain. The control establishes a lower limit for the level detector used by the microphones in the automatic mixing system. This helps prevent background noise or a noisy microphone from being interpreted as an active speech source. By controlling the detection threshold, engineers can maintain more predictable gain sharing between microphones. This feature is especially useful in environments with varying levels of ambient noise. It contributes to cleaner and more controlled automatic microphone mixing performance.
Dual Independent Mixers
The DMI-AMM provides two independent automatic microphone mixers that can collectively support up to 64 channels. This allows the available microphone inputs to be divided into separate automatic mixing groups when required. Independent mixers provide greater flexibility for productions involving different speaker groups or separate areas. Each AMM can be configured according to the requirements of its assigned microphones and application. The card can use automatic microphone mixing on compatible console input channels. This flexible architecture makes the DMI-AMM suitable for complex professional speech and discussion-based productions.
Virtual AMM Integration
The DMI-AMM integrates directly with compatible DiGiCo S-Series and SD-Range software environments. Virtual AMM functionality allows engineers to configure AMM routing and parameters before the physical card is installed. This makes it possible to prepare a console session in advance and streamline system setup when the hardware becomes available. The card can then be inserted and used with the previously prepared configuration. This provides a convenient workflow for touring productions and professional installations. The DMI-AMM is compatible with DiGiCo S-Series, SD12, and Quantum Range systems.
