The DiGiCo MOD-SDR-AES-42 Input Card is a professional digital microphone interface designed for compatible DiGiCo SD-Range systems. AES42 allows digital microphones to connect directly to digital mixing systems while providing control of microphone functions such as gain and filtering. By digitizing the signal at the microphone capsule, several analog gain stages can be eliminated, helping achieve improved dynamic range. The card supports both mono and stereo AES42 microphone configurations.
AES42 Digital Microphone Connectivity
The card provides four mono or stereo AES42 digital microphone preamp channels for direct connection to compatible digital microphones. AES42 enables communication between the microphone and mixing console, allowing supported internal microphone processing to be controlled from the console. When using a mono microphone, the second channel is not required. This flexible architecture makes the card suitable for a variety of professional digital microphone applications.
Sample Rate Conversion
Built-in sample rate conversion provides compatibility with a broad range of digital audio sources. The AES inputs support sample rates from 32 kHz to 99 kHz when sample rate conversion is enabled. Sample rate conversion can be switched independently for each AES input. The card supports operating rates of 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, and 96 kHz. This flexibility simplifies integration with compatible digital microphone systems operating at different sample rates.
Professional Audio Performance
The AES-42 Input Card complies with or exceeds AES3 and IEC-60958 Type I 2003 requirements. Its transformer-balanced 110-ohm input provides reliable digital signal transmission, while an optional 75-ohm unbalanced configuration is available where specified. The card provides a 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response at 0 dBFS. It supports 24-bit resolution when sample rate conversion is disabled. These characteristics make it suitable for demanding professional audio applications.
Selectable Pre-Attenuation
Selectable pre-attenuation provides additional control over incoming digital microphone signals. This feature helps accommodate different microphone output levels and recording conditions. Combined with AES42 digital gain and processing control, the card provides flexible input management. The result is a practical interface for professional live sound, broadcast, recording, and installation environments.
DiGiCo System Integration
Designed for the DiGiCo SD-Range, the AES-42 Input Card integrates directly into compatible modular systems. Its hot-plug design allows the card to be installed or replaced with minimal system interruption. The compact modular format provides an efficient way to add AES42 microphone connectivity to a DiGiCo system. Note that 44.1 kHz is not native to the mixer system and is not available in Optocore-connected systems.
