The DiGiCo MOD-SDR-HDSDI HD-SDI Card is a professional digital video and audio interface designed for compatible DiGiCo SD Series systems. It allows embedded AES3 audio to be extracted from an SDI video stream and then re-embedded into the same stream. The card can access any eight of the 16 audio channels carried within an SDI signal. This makes it suitable for live sound, broadcast, production, and video integration applications. Its modular design provides a convenient way to add SDI audio connectivity to compatible DiGiCo systems.
SDI Audio De-Embedding and Re-Embedding
The HD-SDI card supports SDI streams containing up to 16 channels of embedded audio. It can de-embed and process any eight channels of AES3 audio before re-embedding them into the SDI stream. This allows audio routing and integration between digital audio systems and professional video equipment. The card supports both SD and HD/3G SDI applications. Its transparent handling of Dolby E/D data also makes it suitable for professional broadcast workflows.
Sample Rate Conversion
Built-in sample rate conversion allows the card to operate with both 48 kHz and 96 kHz audio systems. This provides flexibility when integrating SDI video equipment with DiGiCo digital audio systems operating at different sample rates. The internal conversion helps maintain compatibility between the SDI stream and the connected audio system. This eliminates the need for an additional external sample rate conversion device in compatible applications.
SDI Connectivity
The front panel provides five BNC connections for professional video and synchronization connectivity. The SDI input receives the incoming video stream, while the Thru connection provides a re-clocked version of the incoming SDI signal. Two identical SDI outputs provide the embedded video signal for connection to additional equipment. A dedicated 48 kHz Word Clock output is derived from the SDI stream. This connection layout provides flexible integration into professional video and audio systems.
Professional Standards Compatibility
The MOD-SDR-HDSDI is compatible with SMPTE 272M-A and SMPTE 272M-C for SD applications and SMPTE 299M for 3G/HD SDI operation. Support for established SMPTE standards allows the card to integrate with professional SDI video infrastructure. The card is designed to maintain reliable digital audio and video transmission in demanding production environments. Its Dolby E/D transparency further supports broadcast-oriented workflows.
