The AKG K872 Master Reference headphones are engineered for highly accurate monitoring, mixing, mastering, recording, and live sound applications. Custom 53mm transducers paired with powerful 1.5 Tesla magnet systems provide substantial headroom, precise imaging, deep low-frequency reproduction, and an extended 5 Hz–54 kHz frequency range for detailed monitoring across a wide range of program material.

The optimized closed-back ear cup design provides effective isolation from external sound, making the K872 particularly suitable for critical tracking and monitoring environments. The closed construction also helps minimize headphone leakage into sensitive microphones during recording sessions, while the two-layer copper-covered aluminum voice coil contributes to high sensitivity and responsive transient performance.

Designed for extended professional use, the K872 combines an open-mesh self-adjusting headband with 3D-shaped slow-retention foam earcups for a comfortable, personalized fit. The quick-lock headband mechanism maintains its shape without requiring frequent readjustment, while replaceable earpads and the detachable 3-meter cable provide practical flexibility for studio and live applications.
