The Fostex TH900mk2LE is the flagship TH900mk2 in its Bordeaux Urushi lacquer, hand-finished by Sakamoto Otozo Shoten, a lacquer house with 110 years of history, over premium mizume-zakura (Japanese cherry birch) chosen for its fine, dense grain.

Inside sits the 50 mm BioDyna bio-cellulose diaphragm driven by a 1.5 tesla magnetic circuit, giving the deep sub-bass, natural midrange, and present highs the TH900 line is known for. Ear pads combine protein leather with low-rebound cushioning for roughly 60 percent less weight than genuine leather.

What the LE Designation Means

LE denotes a simplified-packaging edition. It is the same headphone and the same Urushi lacquer work as the standard TH900mk2, supplied with a 2 m 7N OFC cable and a faux-leather pouch in place of the standard model's wooden headphone stand and 3 m cable. The headphone itself is unchanged.

Bordeaux Urushi Lacquer over Mizume-Zakura

The housings are turned from premium mizume-zakura, a Japanese cherry birch selected for its fine, dense grain, then lacquered in Bordeaux red Urushi by the artisans of Sakamoto Otozo Shoten. Because the lacquer is applied and polished by hand across multiple coats, each pair carries its own depth and figure.

50 mm BioDyna Driver with 1.5 Tesla Magnetic Circuit

The 50 mm bio-cellulose BioDyna diaphragm is driven by an exceptionally strong 1.5 tesla magnetic circuit, delivering the dynamics, extended sub-bass reach, natural midrange, and sparkling top end that made the TH900 series a reference closed-back design. Frequency response runs from 5 Hz to 45 kHz.

7N OFC Detachable Cable

The supplied 2 m cable uses 7N grade (99.99999 percent) high-purity OFC in a PVC sheath, the same wire Fostex specifies for the TH910. Rhodium-plated 2-pin connectors at the earcups make it detachable, so Fostex's optional balanced cables fit.
