JMAZ JZ4013 Firestorm 4 Cold Spark Machine

The JMAZ Firestorm 4 (JZ4013) is a 600W cold spark machine for weddings, concerts and stage productions. It fires sparks from 3 to 13 ft in 5, 10 or 20-second bursts, adds one-button Hi-Lo and Burst effects, and runs from 4-channel DMX or the included RF wireless remote. It warms up in under 8 minutes on 110V power.

The Firestorm 4 runs on JMAZ's own cold spark granules (JZ4005, sold separately), the same granules as the Firestorm F3. Each machine comes with 1,200 seconds of run time preloaded. After that, swipe the scan card that comes with every JZ4005 refill to add another 1,200 seconds.

How high do the sparks go?

From 3 ft up to 13 ft, in three height settings (low, medium and high). On DMX, channel 1 sets the spark output from 1 to 100%.

What is the scan card?

The Firestorm 4 counts run time. It ships with 1,200 seconds preloaded, and each JZ4005 granule pack includes a single-use scan card that adds another 1,200 seconds when you swipe it on the machine.

Can I use another brand of spark powder?

No. JMAZ requires its own JZ4005 granules and says third-party granules risk damaging the machine and void the warranty.

Will it run on 220-240V?

No. JMAZ rates the Firestorm 4 for 110V and warns that connecting it to 220-240V can cause immediate and permanent damage. On 110V you can daisy-chain up to 3 units on one 20A circuit.

How much space does it need?

JMAZ specifies a 3 ft clear zone around each machine and at least 10 ft from the audience, decorations, walls and anything flammable. Several machines can sit on 4 ft centers. JMAZ writes the Firestorm 4 for trained operators, so read the manual before the first show, and check with the venue: many venues and local fire authorities have their own rules for spark effects.

Does it need cleaning?

Yes, after every use. Run the self-cleaning function from the remote's CLEAN button or DMX channel 3.

How is the Firestorm 4 different from the Firestorm F3?

Both reach 3 to 13 ft, warm up in under 8 minutes and use the same JZ4005 granules. The Firestorm 4 adds one-button Hi-Lo and Burst effects and 4-channel DMX with separate warm-up and self-cleaning channels. The F3 offered a 30-second burst that the Firestorm 4 drops.

How does it compare with the ColorKey Dazzler FX MK2 and Bauer Comet?

The ColorKey Dazzler FX MK2 reaches 15 ft, pre-heats in as little as 3 minutes, runs on 120-240V, and links up to 30 units for remote-triggered chases. The Bauer Comet is a 650W machine listed at 9.8 to 16.4 ft with a 1 to 3 minute pre-heat. The Firestorm 4 is the one with built-in Hi-Lo and Burst effects and a scan card system for JMAZ granules.

Is there a 2-pack?
