The Fostex TH1000RP is the flagship of the RP headphone lineup, hand-assembled in Japan and equipped with the latest premium-grade RP planar magnetic driver. Built into a solid hard maple wood housing, the headphones are finished with Awa Aizome indigo dye from Tokushima, a traditional Japanese process that highlights the unique wood grain with a deep, rich blue hue. Each housing is individually hand-dyed, creating a one-of-a-kind texture that blends traditional craftsmanship with advanced audio technology.
At its core is Fostex’s proprietary RP (Regular Phase) planar diaphragm technology, first introduced in 1974 and continuously refined. The newly developed, larger planar diaphragm is combined with redesigned magnets, coil patterns, and magnetic circuit components to suppress resonance and deliver high sensitivity, smooth frequency response, and precise sound imaging across the full spectrum from deep bass to extended treble.
Lightweight magnesium alloy mechanical parts reduce overall weight by 20% compared to aluminum while suppressing vibrations for greater stability. The newly shaped asymmetrical ear pads, made of low-resilience cushions and durable silk protein synthetic leather, ensure comfort during long listening sessions. A natural sheepskin head pad and headband provide a supple fit, while the detachable 7N high-purity OFC unbalanced cable with rhodium-plated terminals ensures optimal signal transmission. Balanced connection is supported via optional XLR or 4.4 mm balanced cables.
