The Fostex TH-808 is a premium open-back headphone crafted in Japan, developed as a new model based on the TH909, Fostex’s top-of-the-line flagship. Built with precision and care, each pair is individually assembled to ensure the highest level of quality, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern acoustic engineering.

The housing is carved from solid black walnut, a luxurious natural wood known for its resonance and beauty. Each piece of wood has its own unique grain, knots, and coloration, giving every TH808 its own character without affecting sound quality. To complement the wood, etched aluminum parts are integrated into the open-aperture design. These aluminum sections shift their appearance depending on light and viewing angle, while the carefully fine-tuned aperture ratio reduces unwanted resonance and creates a natural sound field that is detailed yet easy to listen to over long sessions.

At its core, the TH808 features Fostex’s proprietary 50mm BioDyna diaphragm driver unit, manufactured in-house using bio-cellulose fibers combined with other materials under optimal conditions. This diaphragm provides low mass, high rigidity, and high internal damping, resulting in highly detailed sound reproduction. Combined with a 1.5 Tesla ultra-strong magnetic circuit and neodymium repulsive magnet structure, the TH808 delivers outstanding responsiveness, wide dynamic range, and low distortion. From deep and controlled low frequencies to beautiful, high-resolution mids and highs, the TH808 captures the full essence of music with exceptional precision.

The headphones come with an original high-purity OFC (Oxygen-Free Copper) cable, engineered to minimize impurities and maximize conductivity, ensuring clean and accurate sound transmission. The detachable cable system uses 2-pin rhodium-plated connectors for high durability, abrasion resistance, and corrosion protection. Balanced connections are also supported with an optional ET-H3.0N7BL XLR cable (sold separately).

For comfort, the TH808 is equipped with low-resilience cushioned earpads covered in premium synthetic leather, designed to fully cover the ears, reduce sound leakage, and provide a secure yet gentle fit for extended listening sessions. Internal wiring is constructed with 7N-grade cable, further improving signal purity and sonic performance.
