Fostex TH810 Premium Closed-Back Headphones with Solid Acacia Wood Housing

The Fostex TH810 carries the driver and magnetic circuit of Fostex's TH910 and TH919 flagships into solid acacia wood housings, a timber chosen from many candidates for the resonance that also makes it a favourite in guitars and ukuleles. The wood is left unlacquered, so the grain, texture, and colour of every pair differ.

Magnesium alloy replaces aluminum in the housing base plate and hangers for roughly 20 percent less mass, while the head pads and headband use natural sheepskin and the ear pads use a silk-protein-based synthetic leather rated at about three times the durability of conventional material. The sealed closed-back structure gives the deep, solid bass and clear treble of the flagship line in a more attainable package.

Solid Acacia Wood Housing

Acacia was selected from a field of candidate timbers for its acoustic resonance, the same quality that makes it a staple in guitar and ukulele construction. Fostex leaves the wood unlacquered so that each housing shows its own grain and colour, and no two pairs look alike.

Flagship 50 mm BioDyna Driver

The TH810 uses the 50 mm neodymium BioDyna diaphragm driver and magnetic circuit developed for the TH910 and TH919, reproducing a wide band from 12.5 Hz to 45 kHz with the deep, controlled low end and clear, extended treble the TH Premium series is known for.

Magnesium Alloy Construction

The housing base plate and hangers are magnesium alloy rather than aluminum, cutting roughly 20 percent of the mass of the equivalent parts and suppressing unwanted vibration.

Sheepskin and Silk Protein Comfort

Natural sheepskin is used for the head pad and headband, while the ear pads use a silk-protein-based synthetic leather rated at roughly three times the durability of conventional synthetic leather, keeping the fit supple through long listening sessions.

Detachable 7N OFC Y-Cable

The supplied 2 m detachable Y-cable uses 7N grade (99.99999 percent) high-purity OFC conductors, with 3.5 mm 2-pole mini plugs at the earcups and a 6.3 mm gold-plated stereo plug at the amplifier.
