Nord Piano 6 & Pro Stage Piano w/ Triple Sensor Keybed Sound Creation

The Nord Piano 6 (NPIANO6) is a stage piano for performing pianists and keyboardists, offered on this page in 73-key (Piano 6 73) and 88-key (Piano 6 88) versions. Both have a Triple Sensor keybed with grand weighted action, 120-voice piano polyphony, 2 piano and 2 sample synth layers, and come with the Nord Triple Pedal 2; the 73 weighs 35.7 lb and the 88 weighs 42.3 lb.

The panel has dedicated LED faders for the piano and synth layers and an OLED display. The layers can be stacked or split at one of 9 split points with an optional crossfade, each layer has its own effects section, and 6 live programs keep your current sounds one button away.

Piano, sample synth and effects

Piano section. Grands, uprights and electric pianos from the Nord Piano Library, with Advanced String Resonance, Dynamic Pedal Noise, Dynamic Compression, Unison, Soft, Mid, Bright and Dyno timbre filters, and 3 keyboard touch options.

Sample Synth section. Two independent layers with strings, wind, brass, basses, guitars and analog leads, including samples from the Spitfire, Symphobia and Swing libraries. Tru-Vibrato, Unison and Round Robin make sustained and repeated notes sound natural, with attack, decay/sustain, release and dynamic controls plus mono, legato and glide modes.

Effects. Per layer or global: Mod 1 (tremolo, soft and hard pan, Spin, wah, ring modulator), Mod 2 (two phasers, flanger, two choruses, vibe, Spin), Twin, JC and Small amps with alternate tones, compressor, 3-band EQ and delay with ping pong, tap tempo, feedback filter and Flam. A global reverb offers Spring, Booth, Room, Stage, Hall and Cathedral types with pre-delay, chorale and bright/dark modes.

Should I choose the Piano 6 73 or the Piano 6 88?

Choose the 88 for full piano range and the 73 for a lighter, shorter instrument. Both have the same sounds, keybed action and features; the 73 is 42 in wide and 35.7 lb, the 88 is 50.5 in wide and 42.3 lb.

Is a sustain pedal included?

Yes. The Nord Triple Pedal 2 is included, and it enables Advanced String Resonance and Dynamic Pedal Noise and adds program up/down and vibrato control.

Can I layer piano with strings or pads?

Yes. Each program can combine 2 piano layers and 2 sample synth layers, stacked or split at one of 9 split points, with a separate effects section for each layer.

Can I load new sounds?

Yes. Nord Sound Manager (Mac/Win) replaces sounds from the Nord Piano Library and Nord Sample Library, and the Nord Sample Editor lets you load your own samples.

Nord Piano 6 88 or Nord Stage 4 88?

Both are 50.5 in wide with an 88-key Triple Sensor keybed and 120-voice piano polyphony. The Piano 6 uses a heavy grand weighted action, includes the Triple Pedal 2 and weighs 42.3 lb. The Nord Stage 4 88 uses a medium hammer action with aftertouch, adds a full organ section with physical drawbars and the Nord Wave 2 synth with 3 layers, has 4 audio outputs and weighs 43.2 lb.
