Revered for shaping countless iconic recordings of the 1980s, the original 4000E channel strip is known for its punch, clarity, and unmistakable character. This module authentically recreates that heritage, capturing the tonal essence and dynamic behavior that made the early SL 611E channel strip a studio favorite.
At its core, the unit integrates a faithful compressor/limiter and expander/gate, meticulously modeled after the original circuitry and key components. Immortal SSL 4000 Series architecture and Class A VCA replication ensure that every nuance—from subtle dynamic control to aggressive shaping—remains true to the classic design. The expander/gate section preserves the iconic response and feel, delivering tight control with a smooth, musical edge.
Further enhancing its versatility, the module employs a true RMS converter in the sidechain and a fully discrete gain element identical to the original Class A VCA chip.
