The Solid State Logic FUSION is an all-analogue 2U stereo outboard processor designed for the modern hybrid studio. It introduces six completely new analogue coloration tools, providing tonal character, weight, and space to your mix bus or stereo stems. Leveraging the legendary SSL sonic legacy—including pristine mic preamps, classic Channel EQ & Dynamics, the Stereo Bus Compressor, Listen Mic Compressor, and the unique SSL summing bus—Fusion expands the processing palette while maintaining the detail, warmth, and finesse of true analogue circuits. Fusion is the ideal partner for SSL’s Stereo Bus Compressor, bringing professional-grade analogue processing to hybrid workflows.

Vintage Drive:

The Vintage Drive section is a unique non-linear harmonic enhancement circuit that adds cohesion and strength to your mixes. With interactive Drive and Density controls, it produces harmonic saturation and soft compression derived from overloading analogue circuits. It can be applied subtly to thicken and warm a mix or driven harder for more extreme harmonic distortion and character.

Violet EQ and HF Compressor:

Fusion features the SSL Violet EQ, an all-new minimum phase-shift two-band shelving EQ—the first new SSL analogue EQ circuit in over 25 years. It offers four switched frequency points for high and low bands, with +/-9 dB of gain, designed for intuitive low-end weight and high-end sheen. The HF Compressor complements this with high-frequency rounding in the analogue domain, smoothing harshness and providing a tape-like high-frequency roll-off, ideal for taming brittle highs without losing presence.

Full-Band LMC and Stereo Image:

A hidden 6th processor, the Full-Band Listen Mic Compressor (LMC), can be accessed by holding the HF Compressor ‘in’ button for five seconds. This enables wet/dry parallel processing with X-Over acting as a mix control, adding flexibility and depth to dynamics shaping. The Stereo Image enhancer is a true analogue Mid-Side processor, manipulating the Side signal to widen and control the spatial characteristics of the stereo field, allowing for creative and precise stereo manipulation.

Transformer and Connectivity:

Fusion includes a custom SSL Transformer circuit that introduces subtle low-frequency saturation and high-frequency phase shift, thickening the low end and adding sparkle to the high end. Workflow-friendly features include +/-12 dB Input/Output Trim, input overload LED, large peak-hold metering, front-end 3rd-order High Pass Filter with selectable cut-off frequencies, tri-color status indicators, and versatile XLR connectivity. The XLR connections can function as a Stereo Insert for mix bus processing or as a Mid-Side circuit, with switchable pre-EQ or pre-Stereo Image insert points for maximum flexibility.
