The Solid State Logic Matrix2 is built to seamlessly integrate high-end analogue outboard equipment into a modern DAW-based studio. The built-in Insert Router allows you to physically connect up to 16 external hardware processors and access them directly from the console, removing the need for a traditional patch bay. Analogue devices can be applied to any console channel instantly, letting you work fluidly without interrupting the creative process or leaving the listening position.
Insert Router Workflow:
The Insert Router behaves like a fully recallable, intelligent patching system. Hardware processors can be arranged into chains, reordered, swapped, or reassigned in real time, all without repatching cables. These configurations can be created using dedicated console buttons or via a drag-and-drop software interface on a computer. Although the workflow mirrors the flexibility of software plug-ins, the audio path remains entirely 100% SSL SuperAnalogue hardware, preserving sonic integrity at all times.
δ-Ctrl Automation System:
The δ-Ctrl automation system combines classic analogue console control with modern DAW automation. The Single Fader and 16-Fader δ-Ctrl plug-ins allow Matrix channel levels, mutes, and FX sends to be automated directly from within the DAW. Automation can be written either from the console’s motorized faders or from the plug-in interface itself, then played back with precision, ensuring full recall and tight integration with DAW sessions.
DAW Control and Hybrid Studio Hub:
Matrix2 places the console back at the center of the studio by delivering comprehensive DAW control alongside analogue mixing. Using HUI or MCU modes, the 16 motorized faders and channel controls provide hands-on access to DAW mixers, transport functions, plug-ins, virtual instruments, and navigation commands. With a single button press, the control surface switches between analogue console operation and DAW control, making Matrix2 a powerful and intuitive hub for hybrid production workflows.
Mixing, Summing, and Monitoring:
Beyond its control capabilities, Matrix2 is a full-featured SSL mixer rooted in decades of console design expertise. It offers a 40-input SuperAnalogue summing mixer, dual stereo mix busses, and multiple stereo aux returns for flexible routing. Comprehensive monitoring includes independent main and mini monitor outputs, artist monitoring with EQ and source selection, talkback, and multiple external monitor inputs, ensuring accurate monitoring and efficient session management in demanding studio environments.
