The Solid State Logic PURE DRIVE OCTO brings Solid State Logic’s acclaimed PureDrive microphone preamp technology-originally developed for the ORIGIN console-into a powerful 8-channel rackmount unit. Designed for modern studios, it combines pristine analogue performance with advanced digital integration, delivering unmistakable SSL clarity, punch, and musicality.
Three Distinct Sonic Characters:
Each microphone preamp can be independently switched between Clean, Classic Drive, and Asymmetric Drive modes. Clean mode delivers ultra-transparent, low-noise capture, Classic Drive recreates the harmonically rich drive character of the ORIGIN console, while Asymmetric Drive introduces enhanced even-order harmonics for added thickness and softened transients.
Precision Analogue Design:
PURE DRIVE OCTO uses digitally controlled analogue circuitry with stepped controls to ensure exact channel matching, long-term reliability, and effortless recall. Independent Gain and Trim controls allow engineers to drive the preamp musically while maintaining precise output levels, supported by phantom power, polarity invert, and a fixed 75 Hz high-pass filter on every channel.
Flexible Connectivity & Workflow:
The unit supports microphone, line, and instrument inputs, with front-panel Hi-Z DI connections and multiple impedance options for creative tone shaping. Balanced analogue outputs, insert routing, and professional +24 dBu operating levels make it ideal for both tracking and hybrid analogue workflows.
Modern Digital Integration:
PURE DRIVE OCTO features high-resolution A-D conversion up to 192 kHz / 32-bit, with ADAT, AES, and USB connectivity. USB soundcard mode enables extensive I/O routing, while word clock support and selectable auto-sleep mode ensure seamless integration into advanced studio systems, making it one of the most capable outboard mic preamps available today.
