SSL Solid State Logic THE BUS+ 2-Channel Analogue Bus Compressor

The Solid State Logic Bus+ remains faithful to the legendary SSL Bus Compressor design while introducing an expanded set of advanced processing tools that make it the most versatile Bus Compressor ever created. Alongside the built-in D-EQ and Transient Expander, three distinct compression colour modes—LOW THD, F/B and 4K—provide powerful options for shaping dynamics. These modes can be used individually or combined to create unique compression textures tailored to any mix or production style.

LOW THD, F/B and 4K Modes:

LOW THD Mode reduces low-frequency distortion caused by compression, particularly when using fast release times, resulting in a cleaner and more controlled low end. F/B (Feed-Back) Mode derives the side-chain signal after the gain-reduction stage, delivering a smoother, more relaxed compression response compared to the classic SSL “grab.” 4K Mode recreates the unbalanced VCA behavior of SSL 4000-series consoles, adding adjustable harmonic distortion that enhances thickness, cohesion and character.

SSL Dynamic EQ (D-EQ):

THE BUS+ introduces the first-ever SSL Dynamic EQ, designed to work seamlessly alongside the Bus Compressor. Built around a specially adapted side-chain with additional circuitry, including a gain-reduction limiter for the Range control, the D-EQ is both musical and precise. It allows dynamic enhancement of the high and low frequencies, making it a powerful tool for shaping tonal balance while maintaining mix integrity.

Precise Dynamic Control:

The D-EQ is a 2-band parallel Dynamic EQ with 16 selectable frequency points per band, offering detailed control over the affected frequency ranges. The high-frequency band can be switched between shelf and bell responses for added flexibility. Each band features a stepped COMP/EXP control, allowing smooth transitions between compression and expansion for subtle refinement or creative dynamic shaping.
