The Waldorf Iridium Desktop MK2 builds upon the legendary multi-engine synthesis architecture of the Quantum and Iridium series, delivering an advanced next-generation desktop synthesizer designed for deep sound exploration and professional music production. Featuring a redesigned chassis and an upgraded CPU board with expanded RAM and flash storage, the MK2 significantly increases sample capacity and overall performance. This enhanced processing power unlocks new creative possibilities, allowing musicians, producers, and sound designers to craft highly detailed and evolving sounds with exceptional flexibility.
With expanded memory enabling up to four multi-timbral layers, the Iridium Desktop MK2 allows complex layered, split, round-robin, and random-robin configurations for rich and dynamic sonic textures. A groundbreaking addition is the “Seeds” synthesis method, introducing a sixth synthesis engine per oscillator that dynamically generates timbral movement using sub-oscillators instead of static waveforms. The expressive “Flavour” knob adds organic micro-variations in timing, pitch, and tone for a more lively and human character, while the innovative per-note parameter locks—developed in collaboration with Aphex Twin—allow up to 16 individual parameter variations across 128 notes for unprecedented sound customization and evolving performances.
Designed for seamless studio and performance integration, the Iridium Desktop MK2 offers extensive connectivity including stereo audio inputs and outputs, a dedicated headphone output with level control, DIN MIDI In/Out/Thru, and MIDI 2.0 compatibility. USB Type-B enables direct MIDI communication with computers, while USB Type-A supports external storage and MIDI devices. Additional creative control comes via four high-resolution CV inputs usable within the modulation matrix, analog clock I/O with divider settings, and analog gate and start inputs for modular synchronization. A microSD slot expands storage capabilities, and a Kensington® lock slot ensures physical security, making the Iridium Desktop MK2 a powerful centerpiece for modern hybrid studios and performance setups.
