The Waldorf KYRA-SE Virtual Analog Synthesizer - Sea Blue is a powerful FPGA-based virtual analog synthesizer created for professional and semi-professional musicians, producers, and sound designers. Designed for both studio and live use, Kyra delivers an enormous sound palette with 128 voices, eight independent parts, and the ability to run all synthesis features and effects simultaneously without compromise.

At its heart is a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), a high tech processing chip with the raw power of a high end desktop computer. This allows Kyra to produce a massive wall of sound with pristine oscillators, filters, effects, and modulation options. Each part features its own independent effects chain with nine high quality processors, including EQ, formant filter, distortion, phaser, delay, chorus/flanger/comb, reverb, and limiters - all full stereo and oversampled for maximum quality.

The oscillator section is deep and flexible, offering per voice: two wave oscillators with over 4000 wavetables, two pulse, two saw, two noise, and two sub oscillators with multiple waveforms. Additional options include hard sync, hypersaw mode, FM, ring modulation, and a powerful Dual Mode that layers two of the same sounds for detuning, creating a true stereo signal path with dual filters and stereo LFOs. The multimode filters provide selectable 12/24 dB slopes for low-pass, band-pass, and high-pass operation. Modulation sources include three envelope generators, three LFOs with 128 wave shapes each, and a six-slot modulation matrix with multiple destinations. Each part also comes equipped with its own arpeggiator featuring 128 preset patterns.

Despite its deep architecture, Kyra is straightforward to program, with a largely one-to-one front panel design that minimizes menu diving. More than 3000 patch slots ensure ample storage for sound design, and recall is instant. The audio engine is powered by a 32-bit Velvet Sound DAC and provides eight balanced TRS outputs grouped in stereo pairs, along with a headphone output. Kyra also integrates seamlessly with modern production environments through high-speed USB 2.0 audio and MIDI, capable of streaming all eight parts in stereo at 24-bit / 96kHz to your DAW. A stereo return stream allows final playback through Kyra, making it usable as a high-quality audio interface.
