The Warm Audio WA-FT is a modern recreation of a classic 1950s ribbon microphone design, combining iconic vintage tone with upgraded components and enhanced functionality for today’s recording environments. Built in a compact pencil-style format inspired by the original B&O design, the WA-FT delivers detailed, natural sound while fitting easily into tight studio setups. Designed to handle high sound pressure levels with ease, this figure-8 ribbon microphone excels on instruments such as guitar cabinets, horns, drum overheads, and pianos, capturing rich detail with authentic analog character.

True to the sound profile of sought-after small-format ribbon microphones, the WA-FT produces tight, powerful lows and rich, expressive midrange while naturally smoothing harsh high frequencies above 15 kHz. It’s warm and forgiving tonal response helps instruments sit perfectly in dense mixes without excessive brightness or sibilance. The figure-8 polar pattern effectively minimizes side-address noise while capturing sound from the front and rear, making it ideal for dual-instrument recordings or controlled studio environments where isolation and clarity are essential.

Equipped with premium modern upgrades, the WA-FT features a custom Japanese ribbon, rare-earth Neodymium magnet, and USA-made CineMag transformer for authentic ribbon tone with improved durability and performance. A selectable all-analog 26 dB JFET Warm Lifter in-line preamp provides clean gain, allowing direct connection to audio interfaces or low-powered preamps without sacrificing tone or frequency response. Each unit is carefully hand-inspected and tested by engineers and musicians at Warm Audio headquarters in Austin, Texas, ensuring reliable performance and professional studio quality.
