The Yamaha XMV8140 is a high-performance multi-channel power amplifier designed specifically for installed sound applications that demand flexibility, efficiency, and reliability. Delivering 8 × 140W at 8Ω/4Ω, 8 × 125W on 70V/100V lines, or 4 × 280W in Double Power Mode, it supports both high-impedance (70V/100V) and low-impedance (4Ω/8Ω) operation simultaneously. This unique capability eliminates the need for external transformers or multiple amplifiers, simplifying system design while allowing different speaker loads to be driven from a single unit.
Equipped with Yamaha’s newly developed YDIF digital audio format, the XMV8140 enables fast, straightforward system setup using standard Ethernet cabling. Each pair of channels can be independently assigned to 70V or 100V operation via rear-panel DIP switches without reducing available output channels. The innovative Double Power Mode doubles the output power of selected channels, making it possible to power speakers with varying output requirements within the same installation. Seamless integration with MTX/MRX series processors allows system parameters such as mute and attenuation to be controlled centrally using MTX-MRX Editor software.
At its core, the XMV8140 features an advanced Class-D amplifier circuit with over 90% efficiency, combined with a PFC-equipped switching power supply to reduce current draw and improve system stability. Intelligent protection circuits guard against low impedance, overcurrent, and overheating, ensuring long-term reliability in demanding environments. Additional features such as per-channel source selection, redundant Backup and Override modes, and Ethernet-based external control make the XMV8140 an ideal amplifier for commercial venues, houses of worship, conference centers, and large-scale installed audio systems.
