What are the differences between the Scorpion DJ Laser Lights?
First let's review the base model, the Scorpion Dual Laser Light.
Don’t let the price fool you at just $189!! This little laser can light up the club like a lunar alien landing party! It features dual fat beams that work really well with fog and haze machines.
It has 32 built-in patterns including that aerial laser effect you see at the big raves and concerts! This little DJ laser packs a punch with 532 nm/50 mW and uses a green laser diode. It only weighs about 5 lbs and is super portable for how much excitement it brings to your next show.
If you need a really bright effect, check out the RGB version below instead, this is great for smaller clubs but isn’t as bright as the Scorpion RGB.
SCORPION DUAL LASER REVIEW ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I really love this dj lazer! It has a powerful beam and works awesome for all types of shows I do. Super cool they include a remote. Use this with a haze machine, that gives it so much more impact. Pleased with what you get for the price. -Tom P.
SCORPION DUAL LASER REVIEW ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This light is so cool! I purchased a set of 4 to daisy chain together. I’m using it all my upcoming events now! Can’t believe how cheap it is. -Jaime S.
Next up is the Chauvet Scorpion Dual RGB Laser.
The RBG means Red, Green, Blue and yeah you get multi-color! This bad boy is brighter and a little more money at $309 but it’s still so inexpensive for a true laser dj light!
The big feature difference with this model is the color options. Instead of just green, you’ll get red, green and blue color mixes. You can also get that magic Laser Sky, Aerial Effect with this light in multi-color and it’s notably brighter with a 638 nm/30mW (red) laser diode, 520 nm/20 mW (green) laser diode, 450 nm/ 50 mW (blue) laser diode.
Check out the videos below on the Scorpion Dual RGB and yes, it's much cooler in person but you'll get the idea!
SCORPION DUAL RGB REVIEW ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ These DJ Lasers are powerful! I love the smooth scrolling effects and there’s no color bleed. I’ve used other lasers in the past and this is my new favorite! So glad I picked up 2 of these for my DJ rig, they are amazing!!! -DJ Nighthawk
SCORPION DUAL RGB REVIEW ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Used this lazer in a 250 capacity club and it rocked the house! I’ll definitely be using it at all my shows and probably get at least one more for my setup. -Kelly G.
Next up is the Chauvet Storm FX RGB Laser.
This main difference of this model is the tri-colored laser that creates a star-shaped blast of moving multicolored patterns instead of flat like the other models. It actually has the same laser setup as the RGB Dual but with different patterns and 1 point of origination.
You can have independent control over the colors with or without DMX which is pretty cool. Check out the images I’ve included here of the different looks you can get with complete control over the color mixing and the star pattern.
With the star shape, you don't get that flat aerial beam effect but the slowly rotating star beams are extremely cool in my opinion. When in doubt get a set of each star and flat style, daisy chain them and set them to auto or hookup a DMX for full control of each or sets.
SCORPION STORM FX LASER REVIEW ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This laser is really bright on a dark stage with my hazer rippin. I use it with DMX with full control over the colors and beam patterns, very cool! -Roland M.
SCORPION STORM FX LASER REVIEW ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy to setup, love the star effect! I'm in a working band and use this for one particular song with the lights down and it's awesome. However; I had one break after 6 months of gigging with it on the road but shit happens I guess. -Lenny W.
Listen to dude's review above! Don’t break your Scorpion Laser! Make sure you get a case for your light, like all effects lights they will break over time if you are clunking them around into the back of your van every night. There is a specific bag made for the Scorpion lights called the CHS-40 Chauvet Lighting Bag and it’s pretty nice for around $35 (at the time of this article).
Don't worry about a case for your lights if they will be permanent installs but if you're traveling or gigging around town then you really should get one.
All of these laser effects are awesome indoors with standing haze but can be used for outside shows as well. Add at least one more laser if you’re going to be doing an outside event and you want them to really shine.
Chauvet DJ also makes something called a Gigbar. The Chauvet DJ Gigbar 2 features a built in Laser in the center and an arsenal of effects lights all on one easy to setup T bar unit. The Gigbar light systems are popular with wedding dj's and are very impressive for small venues. You can also use two of these all in one dj lighting systems for larger rooms and venues where you want something easy to setup but still put on a killer light show. Checkout the Gigbar in action in the demo video below.
Also outside events require a larger fogger or hazer like the Antari Z1520 Vertical Fogger with RGB LED Up Light or the Chauvet DJ Hurricane Haze 4D!

How do you set the laser sky effects if using auto or sound mode on the DJ chauvet rgb? There is only sound or sound 1-6. Thank you.
