The Chauvet DJ CH-05 Safety Cable 16-Pack is sixteen Chauvet DJ CH-05 (CH05) steel safety cables in one order, enough to put a secondary safety on every fixture in a full truss rig. Each cable is 31 in (787 mm) long and 0.12 in (3 mm) thick, has a loop on one end and a snap-hook carabiner on the other, and is rated by Chauvet DJ at 68 lb (30 kg). Production companies, venues, churches and schools use the 16-pack to outfit a whole lighting rig at once.
How much weight can one CH-05 hold?
Chauvet DJ rates each CH-05 at 68 lb (30 kg). Some listings online quote a 700 lb capacity for this cable; that figure does not appear in Chauvet's specifications, so plan on 68 lb per cable. Give every fixture its own cable, check each fixture's weight against the rating, and for anything heavier than 68 lb choose a higher-rated cable from our safety cables for lighting.

What does a safety cable do?
A safety cable is the secondary attachment on a hung fixture. The clamp holds the light, and the cable catches it if the clamp, bolt or bracket fails. Chauvet DJ describes the CH-05 as designed to support a temporary load, which is that catch. Every overhead fixture needs one, whether it hangs from truss, pipe, a T-bar or a lighting stand.
How do you attach a CH-05?
Wrap the cable around the truss tube, pipe or crossbar, pass it through the fixture's yoke or dedicated safety eye, and clip the snap hook onto the loop at the other end so the cable closes around both. Keep the slack short so a fixture drops as little as possible if its clamp fails, and follow each fixture's manual for where its safety cable belongs.
