Description
The Chauvet DJ CH-05 Safety Cable 8-Pack is eight Chauvet DJ CH-05 (CH05) steel safety cables in one order, one for each of eight hanging lighting fixtures. Each cable is 31 in (787 mm) long and 0.12 in (3 mm) thick, has a loop on one end and a snap-hook carabiner on the other, and is rated by Chauvet DJ at 68 lb (30 kg). It is made for mobile DJs, bands, churches and event crews who hang lights on truss, lighting stands or pipe and want a secondary safety on every fixture.
How much weight can one CH-05 hold?
Chauvet DJ rates each CH-05 at 68 lb (30 kg). Some listings online quote a 700 lb capacity for this cable; that figure does not appear in Chauvet's specifications, so plan on 68 lb per cable. Use one cable per fixture, check each fixture's weight against the rating, and for anything heavier than 68 lb choose a higher-rated cable from our safety cables for lighting.

What does a safety cable do?
It is the backup, not the main support. The clamp carries the fixture, and the safety cable is there to catch it if the clamp, bolt or bracket lets go. Chauvet DJ describes the CH-05 as designed to support a temporary load, which is exactly that job. Every fixture you hang overhead should have its own safety cable, including lights on stands and T-bars.
How do you attach a CH-05?
Pass the cable around the truss tube, pipe or crossbar and through the fixture's yoke or dedicated safety eye, then clip the snap hook onto the loop at the other end so the cable closes around both. Keep the slack short so the fixture drops as little as possible if its clamp fails, and follow the fixture's manual for where its safety cable belongs.
8-pack, 16-pack or single cables?
All three are the same Chauvet DJ CH-05 cable with the same rating. The only difference is how many come in the order.
