The DiGiCo X-SD-RACK-SMST is a professional SD-Rack configuration featuring Single Mode ST optical connectivity. Its 14 card slots provide capacity for up to 56 inputs and 56 outputs when equipped with compatible I/O modules. The modular architecture supports a broad selection of DiGiCo analog and digital interface cards. This allows the rack to be configured around the requirements of touring, broadcast, installation, and live production systems. The rugged 10U chassis is designed for demanding professional environments.
Single Mode ST Optical Connectivity
The X-SD-RACK-SMST incorporates a Single Mode ST optical interface for reliable long-distance digital audio transmission. Single Mode fiber is well suited to large venues, broadcast facilities, touring productions, and permanent installations where extended cable runs are required. The ST connector provides a secure fiber connection for compatible DiGiCo optical systems. It allows high-channel-count audio to travel over extended distances while maintaining a clean digital signal path. This configuration is particularly useful when system components are positioned far apart. It provides a practical alternative to shorter-distance copper-based connections.
Gain Tracking Technology
DiGiCo Gain Tracking allows multiple consoles to share microphone inputs while retaining independent control over digital gain. When an analog gain adjustment is made, digital compensation can help maintain the existing mix level on connected consoles. This allows FOH, monitor, broadcast, and recording engineers to work independently from shared inputs. The technology helps prevent unwanted changes to another engineer's mix. It also provides greater control when multiple consoles operate within the same production system. Gain Tracking is a key feature for sophisticated multi-console workflows.
High-Resolution Audio
The SD-Rack supports sample rates ranging from 44.1kHz through 192kHz, providing flexibility for different professional audio applications. Its Stealth FPGA-based architecture delivers high-performance signal processing and conversion. The rack can operate at high sample rates while supporting compatible optical and MADI system configurations. Integrated sample rate conversion is available for appropriate MADI split applications. This makes the X-SD-RACK-SMST suitable for live sound, recording, broadcast, and installation environments. Its high-resolution architecture is designed to complement DiGiCo's professional console systems.
Touring-Ready Reliability
The X-SD-RACK-SMST is designed for professional reliability with two redundant, hot-swappable power supplies. The removable PSUs and MADI pod simplify maintenance and servicing when necessary. Compatible interface cards can also be hot-swapped and automatically identified by the system. An LCD menu screen and dedicated controls provide straightforward system monitoring and configuration. Front-panel controls can be locked to help prevent accidental changes during operation. Its rugged rackmount construction is suitable for demanding touring and fixed-install applications.
Expandable System Design
The 14 available module slots allow the SD-Rack to accommodate a wide range of DiGiCo interface options. Compatible cards include 32-bit Mic Pre, ADC, DAC, AES/EBU, AES42, Dante, ADAT, SDI, and Aviom formats. MADI split outputs and built-in sample rate conversion provide additional signal distribution flexibility. Multiple SD-Racks can be incorporated into larger DiGiCo optical system configurations. The rack can also be configured to meet different input and output requirements as systems evolve. This makes it a versatile I/O platform for complex professional audio networks.
