Description
The LD Systems MAUI 5 W (MAUI5W) is a mains-powered ultra-portable column PA system in white, built from an 8" powered subwoofer base and a three-piece satellite column that lock together with multipin connectors. Class D amplification delivers 200 W RMS / 800 W peak to the 8" woofer and four 3" neodymium mid-high drivers, producing 114 dB average and 120 dB peak SPL across a 50 Hz to 20 kHz response with 120° x 20° coverage. The assembled system stands 1,985 mm (78.1 in) tall, weighs 11.3 kg (24.9 lb) in total, and puts a 4-channel mixer with Bluetooth 4.2 streaming inside the subwoofer base, so no external mixer or amp rack is needed. It is the system mobile DJs, solo performers, presenters, and small-venue engineers reach for when the whole PA has to fit on a car seat and be carried in one trip.
MAUI 5 W vs MAUI 5 GO vs MAUI 5: mains, battery, and finish
All three share the same cabinet, drivers, amplifier, and mixer. The only real decisions are how the system gets its power and what color it is. If you already know the battery-powered MAUI 5 GO or the black MAUI 5, these are the numbers that differ:
| MAUI 5 W (this listing) | MAUI 5 GO | MAUI 5 | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Power source | AC mains only | Internal battery or AC mains | AC mains only |
| Battery | None | 5,200 mAh lithium-ion, exchangeable | None |
| Battery runtime | Not applicable | 6 h (DJ mode) to 20 h (lounge) | Not applicable |
| Charge time | Not applicable | 3 h full, 2 h to 80% | Not applicable |
| Total weight | 11.3 kg (24.9 lb) | 12.9 kg (28.4 lb) | 11.3 kg (24.9 lb) |
| Finish | White | Black (white version: MAUI 5 GO W) | Black |
| Power output | 200 W RMS / 800 W peak | 200 W RMS / 800 W peak | 200 W RMS / 800 W peak |
| Max SPL | 114 dB avg / 120 dB peak | 114 dB avg / 120 dB peak | 114 dB avg / 120 dB peak |
| Frequency response | 50 - 20,000 Hz | 50 - 20,000 Hz | 50 - 20,000 Hz |
| Coverage (H x V) | 120° x 20° | 120° x 20° | 120° x 20° |
Put simply: the MAUI 5 W is the white, plug-in version. Pay the extra for a GO only if you genuinely play where there is no outlet, because the battery adds 1.6 kg (3.5 lb) and a charging routine to an otherwise identical system. If the MAUI 5 is not enough system for the rooms you work, the MAUI 11 G2 W is the next size up in the same line, and the rest of the range is in our LD Systems collection.
The 4-channel mixer and connector panel
The mixer lives in the subwoofer base, not on a separate box. It provides four channels with individual level controls plus subwoofer and master volume, a 3-band EQ (high, mid, low), and a high-shelf filter for room correction. Inputs are 1x XLR combo microphone, 1x 6.3 mm TS jack for instruments (hi-Z, so a guitar or keyboard plugs straight in), 2x XLR combo line inputs, and a 3.5 mm TRS music input, alongside Bluetooth 4.2 wireless streaming. Microphone, line, and hi-Z sources can be used at the same time, which is what lets one MAUI 5 W cover a speech mic, a backing track, and an instrument without any outboard gear.
Behind the panel, LD Systems' LECC digital processing runs at 24-bit / 48 kHz and handles the crossover, equalization, compression, and limiting. Protection circuits cover multiband limiting, short circuit, overcurrent, and thermal overload.
Setup, transport, and power
The system breaks down into four components: the subwoofer base and three column sections. They join with LD Systems' custom multipin connectors rather than loose speaker cable, which is why the manufacturer describes assembly as taking seconds. The subwoofer measures 305 x 395 x 405 mm (12.0 x 15.6 x 15.9 in) and each column section is 82 x 535 x 105 mm (3.2 x 21.1 x 4.1 in), so the whole PA stows in a car footwell or on a passenger seat. Cabinets are ABS, and the unit runs on 100-120 V AC (300 W rated power) through an IEC C14 inlet, with the mains cable included. A MAUI 5 SAT BAG for the columns and a MAUI 5 SUB PC cover for the base are sold separately.

Is the LD Systems MAUI 5 W battery powered?
No. The MAUI 5 W runs on AC mains only, at 100-120 V AC through an IEC C14 inlet with a rated power draw of 300 W. The battery model is the MAUI 5 GO, which carries a 5,200 mAh exchangeable lithium-ion pack good for 6 hours in DJ mode or 20 hours at lounge levels. Everything else about the two systems is the same. You can browse the full range of cordless options in battery powered PA speakers.
What is the difference between the MAUI 5 W and the MAUI 5?
The finish, and nothing else. Both are 200 W RMS / 800 W peak, 114 dB average and 120 dB peak SPL, 50 - 20,000 Hz, 120° x 20° coverage, 1,985 mm assembled and 11.3 kg. The W suffix means white ABS cabinets; the MAUI 5 is the same system in black. Choose the white one when the PA has to disappear against a wedding or corporate backdrop.
How many inputs does the built-in mixer have?
Four channels. The connector panel carries 1x XLR combo microphone input, 1x 6.3 mm TS jack for hi-Z instruments, 2x XLR combo line inputs, and a 3.5 mm TRS music input, plus Bluetooth 4.2 for wireless streaming. Microphone, line, and instrument sources are simultaneously assignable, so a speech mic, a guitar, and a playback device can all be live at once without an external mixer.
How loud is the MAUI 5 W and how wide does it cover?
120 dB peak and 114 dB average SPL, over a 120° horizontal by 20° vertical pattern. The tall, narrow column is what produces that shape: wide left-to-right coverage for an audience spread across a room, with vertical energy kept tight so less sound splashes into the ceiling and floor. That narrow vertical pattern is also why LD Systems rates the system as highly feedback resistant, and why the same box works as a stage monitor as well as front-of-house.
How does the MAUI 5 W pack down for transport?
Into four pieces: the 8" subwoofer base plus three column sections. The columns are 82 x 535 x 105 mm each and connect by multipin connector, so there are no speaker cables to coil and no rigging hardware to keep track of. Total system weight is 11.3 kg (24.9 lb), light enough for a single person to load in one trip.
Does the MAUI 5 W come with a warranty?
Yes. This unit ships with a Free 2 Year Warranty through Hollywood DJ. Details are on our 2 year warranty page.
