LD Systems MAUI 5 & Portable Column PA System w/ Mixer & BT Ultra

The LD Systems MAUI 5 (MAUI5, LDMAUI5) is an ultra-portable, mains-powered column PA system in black for solo performers, mobile DJs, presenters and small venues, with a 4-channel mixer and Bluetooth built into its 8" subwoofer base. It puts out 200 W RMS / 800 W peak and up to 120 dB peak SPL, stands 78.1 in (1,985 mm) tall assembled and weighs 24.9 lb (11.3 kg) in total.

The system is four pieces: the subwoofer base and three column sections that join with LD Systems' multipin connectors, so there is no cabling between the sub and the column and setup takes seconds. Four 3" neodymium mid-high drivers in the column cover 120° horizontally by 20° vertically, and the wide spread with high feedback rejection lets you place it close to the performer, so it works as PA and monitor in one. The whole system fits on a car seat.

Choose the MAUI 5 W when the PA should blend into a white wedding or corporate set, and the MAUI 5 GO only if you play where there is no outlet, since the battery adds 3.5 lb (1.6 kg). For bigger rooms, the next step up in the line is the MAUI 11 G2.

Is the MAUI 5 battery powered?

No. The MAUI 5 runs on AC mains at 100 to 120 V through an IEC C14 inlet, with a 300 W rated power draw. The battery version is the MAUI 5 GO, and the rest of the cordless range is in battery powered PA speakers.

How many inputs does the built-in mixer have?

Four channels: 1 XLR combo mic input, 1 hi-Z 1/4-inch (6.3 mm) instrument input for a guitar or keyboard, 2 XLR combo line inputs and a 1/8-inch (3.5 mm) aux input, plus Bluetooth 4.2 streaming. Mic, instrument, line and Bluetooth sources can all be used at the same time, each with its own level control, so a speech mic, an instrument and a backing track run without an external mixer.

How loud is the MAUI 5 and how wide does it cover?

Up to 120 dB peak and 114 dB average SPL, over 120° horizontal by 20° vertical. The column arrangement of the drivers spreads sound wide across the room and reduces the level drop toward the back, and the narrow vertical pattern helps it resist feedback, which is why in most setups no separate monitor wedge is needed.

How does the MAUI 5 pack down for transport?

Into four pieces: the 8" subwoofer base and three column sections. Each column section is 3.2 x 21.1 x 4.1 in (82 x 535 x 105 mm), the base takes a 12.0 x 15.6 in (305 x 395 mm) footprint, and the whole system is 24.9 lb (11.3 kg). The MAUI 5 SAT BAG carries the columns and the MAUI 5 SUB PC covers the base, both sold separately.
