Description
The LD Systems MAUI P900 (MAUIP900) is a three-piece active column PA designed with Porsche Design Studio, built for premium live events and installations where the system has to look as considered as it sounds. Fifty neodymium drivers and a 1,400 W RMS Class D amplifier produce 131 dB peak SPL across 42 Hz to 20,000 Hz, with 140° of horizontal dispersion from a 2.17 m column that breaks into three parts for transport. It comes in Cocoon White, Platinum Grey and Graphite Black.
What you are paying for
- Fifty neodymium drivers, 1,400 W RMS. 121 dB continuous and 131 dB peak, with usable output down to 42 Hz — low enough that the system carries most programme material without a separate subwoofer.
- 140° horizontal by 15° vertical. Wide across the room, tightly controlled vertically, which is what keeps level even from the front row to the back wall instead of blasting the first three metres.
- SonicGuide and the Wave Ahead tweeter arrangement combine to form a coherent wavefront, which is the reason a column this slim can throw as far as it does.
- DynX 24-bit DSP holds detail together at full output rather than smearing when you push it.
- Three-part aluminium column with multipin connectors. The sections locate and connect as you stack them, so there is no cabling between column pieces and setup is quick.
- Bluetooth with aptX and AAC at up to 70 m, plus TrueWireless Stereo to pair two systems up to 40 m apart without running a cable between them.
Where it sits against the rest of the MAUI range
The MAUI family runs from portable battery systems up to this one. The practical differences:
- MAUI 5 GO — battery powered with an onboard mixer. The one to take where there is no power.
- MAUI 5 W — mains powered, same ultra-portable footprint, with mixer and Bluetooth.
- MAUI P900 (this system) — 1,400 W RMS, 131 dB peak, 42 Hz, 140° dispersion, 2.17 m tall and 46 kg. A different class of system: this is for rooms and events where the MAUI 5 would run out of headroom long before it ran out of coverage.
If the finish matters more than the saving, all three colours are on this page. If it does not, there is usually an open box MAUI P900 in Graphite Black at a lower price.

Connections and control
The connection panel is deliberately minimal: system volume, subwoofer volume, two XLR inputs for a stereo source and two XLR outputs for linking a second system in a wired stereo pair. Everything else is handled by the DSP or over Bluetooth.

Common questions
Do I need a separate subwoofer?
Usually not. The system reaches 42 Hz, which covers speech, live band and most general programme material on its own. There is a dedicated subwoofer volume control on the panel if you do add one.
Can I run two of them in stereo?
Two ways. TrueWireless Stereo pairs them without a cable at up to 40 m apart, or you can link them by cable using the two XLR outputs.
How does it transport?
The column separates into three parts that connect via multipin fittings, so there is no cabling between sections. Total weight is 46 kg across the system. Padded carrying bags for the column and subwoofer and a purpose-made flight case are available separately.
Is there any difference between the three finishes?
No, they are the same system. Cocoon White, Platinum Grey and Graphite Black differ in appearance only.
Will it fill a large room?
140° horizontal dispersion with a tight 15° vertical pattern is designed for exactly that: even coverage across a wide audience, and enough vertical control that the sound carries to the back rather than dying in the first few rows.
What is the Porsche Design Studio involvement?
The industrial design. The three-piece aluminium column, the proportions and the finishes were developed with Porsche Design Studio, which is why it is specified as often for how it looks in a room as for how it sounds.
