The RCF SUB 8008-AS (SUB-8008-AS) is a dual 18-inch powered subwoofer for live bands, DJs, clubs and rental companies. A 4400W peak Class-D amplifier drives two 18-inch woofers with 4-inch voice coils, reaching 137 dB max SPL across 30 Hz to 120 Hz. It runs fanless, supports cardioid deployment, and ships in a plywood cabinet with a scratch-resistant polyurea coating built for touring.

How many do you need?

One SUB 8008-AS carries a mid-size club or a mobile show comfortably. Two, placed together, give you the headroom and the even coverage a large room or an outdoor stage needs. Where low-end spill behind the stage is a problem — corporate events, houses of worship, anywhere with a talking head near the PA — run a cardioid configuration using the rear-panel setting rather than adding more boxes.

Industry-leading transducers

RCF Precision Transducers engineers developed specific magnet sizes and molds to optimize magnetic flux while keeping weight down. The 18-inch, 4-inch voice coil magnetic circuit maintains a consistent, high-integrity flux gap, keeps distortion exceptionally low, and integrates the magnetic circuit into a minimum-weight design. T-pole optimization generates the least possible flux modulation as the voice coil moves through the gap.

Power that moves air

With 4400W peak, the 2-channel Class-D amplifier manages extreme sound pressure levels with an ultrafast attack, realistic transient response and very low heat loss. It is efficient enough to need no cooling fan — the amplifier mounts to a solid aluminium heat exchanger at the rear of the cabinet with no moving parts. The stereo input circuit with crossover uses a low-distortion design with an advanced safety limiter, holding the character of the input signal at all levels. RCF amplifiers are designed to EN62368-1 and use a switch-mode power supply that combines high efficiency with minimum weight.

Rear panel, without a laptop

Twelve presets, selectable crossover frequency, a polarity switch, Deep and Punch voicings, the cardioid setting, and output delay — all set from the back of the cabinet. Nothing here needs software.

Tour-ready workhorse

The rugged all-plywood cabinet is easy to carry, and two or more cabinets stack for quick setup and tear down thanks to ergonomic handles with rubber grips on each side. Two M20 threaded pole mounts on the top and side allow vertical or horizontal use. Heavy-duty polyurea coating, a powder-coated metal grille and a rigid structure withstand long-term transport. A separate housing for the amplifier protects component efficiency and reliability, and acoustically transparent foam behind the grille keeps out dust and humidity. Front-facing vented ports mean the subwoofer can be used in recessed spaces.

Common questions

Is the SUB 8008-AS powered?
Yes. The 4400W peak Class-D amplifier and DSP are built in. No external amp or processor is needed.

Can it be run cardioid?
Yes, using the cardioid setting on the rear panel, which reduces low-frequency energy behind the cabinet. Useful anywhere stage spill is a problem.

How heavy is it?
80 kg / 176.37 lb for the cabinet and 86 kg / 189.6 lb packaged. It has two side handles with rubber grips and stacks with other cabinets.

Can I pole-mount a top box on it?
Yes. Two M20 threaded pole mounts, one on top and one on the side, so the cabinet can be deployed vertically or horizontally.

Does it need a cooling fan?
No. The amplifier mounts to a solid aluminium heat exchanger and cools by convection, so there is no fan noise on a quiet stage.
