Description

The QSC LA108 (LA 108, LA-108) is an 8-inch, 2-way active line array loudspeaker from the QSC L Class. Its Class D amplifier with Power Factor Correction delivers 1300 W peak (1000 W LF, 300 W HF) to an 8-inch woofer and a 1.75-inch compression driver on the QSC LEAF waveguide, for 134 dB peak SPL at 1 m, a frequency range of 57 Hz to 20 kHz (-10 dB) and 100° horizontal by 15° vertical coverage per box. It weighs 30.1 lb (13.7 kg). Fly up to six with the LA108-AF array frame, ground-stack up to four on one upright LS118 or KS118 subwoofer, or put up to three on a rated tripod stand. QSC makes it for live venues, fixed installations, mobile entertainers and AV rental and event production.

Each box has QSC AWARE, which senses how many boxes are in the array and their splay angles through infrared sensors on the grille, and applies Ar-Q array equalization when you press Optimize Array. The QSC SysNav app designs, controls and monitors arrays and models coverage with its AIM tool, and two etherCON ports carry Dante audio and SysNav control. Rigging is QSC RapidDeploy: one person, no tools. QSC backs it with a 6-year warranty when you register it within 30 days of purchase.

LA108 package: two with stack adapter kit Two LA108 and one LA108-KIT-SA stack adapter kit Ground-stacking on a subwoofer (the kit also needs an LA108-AF array frame)
QSC LA108-AF Array frame for flying up to six LA108, and the base of a ground stack Flying or stacking LA108 you already own

How is the LA108 different from the LA112?

The LA112 is the larger L Class box: a 12-inch woofer, two compression drivers and 2400 W peak for more output and bass reach. The LA108 is lighter, has wider horizontal coverage and takes three to a stand instead of two. The two cannot be rigged in the same array.

How many LA108 can I fly in one array?

Up to six, with the LA108-AF array frame, at a 10:1 safety factor. With the LA-KIT-I installation kit instead of the frame, QSC rates up to four LA108 (bridle angle 90° or less). Between boxes you choose 1.5°, 6° or 12° on the RapidDeploy angle bar: 1.5° for long throw at the top of an array, 12° for the closest seats at the bottom. QSC's progressive splay rule says a larger angle can never sit above a smaller one.

Can I ground-stack LA108 on a subwoofer?

Yes. Up to four LA108 stack on one upright QSC LS118 or KS118, or on two LS118 or KS212C laid on their sides. The stack needs both the LA108-AF array frame and the LA108-KIT-SA stack adapter kit, which bolt onto the sub's M20 thread; the adapter sets the array at +6°, 0°, -6° or -12°. The KS118 works upright only and the KS212C on its side only.

Can I put LA108 on a speaker stand or a pole?

Yes. Up to three LA108 can go on a tripod speaker stand rated for 100 lb (45 kg); QSC says any tripod must be properly rated for the deployment and to follow the stand maker's safety recommendations. QSC's L Class FAQ allows up to three on a QSC SP-26 pole over an LS118 or KS118. Each box has two 35 mm pole cups, one at 0° and one at -7.5° for down-tilt, and an M10 pull-back point on the rear panel.

Which subwoofer goes with the LA108?

QSC strongly encourages an LS118, KS118 or KS212C with the LA108, and suggests one subwoofer for every four LA108 (two per side) as a starting point. The LS118 is the networked L Class sub QSC pairs with it; the KS118 and KS212C are QSC's KS Series subs. See QSC subwoofers.

Do I need Dante or a network to use the LA108?

No. Each LA108 has an analog XLR input, so it works with any mixer, and the XLR thru passes that analog signal straight to the next box (it is not post-DSP). For Dante audio and SysNav control, the two etherCON ports daisy-chain from box to box. You cannot mix the two along a chain: a Dante feed does not come out of the XLR thru, and an analog feed is not sent on over the network ports, because the LA108 has no Dante transmitter. For a live broadcast you can feed Dante and analog at once, with analog muted as the backup.

Can I use the LA108 on its side or outdoors?

On its side, yes, as a ground-stacked horizontal array such as a stage side-fill; the coverage rotates to 15° horizontal by 100° vertical, and boxes on their sides cannot be flown. Outdoors, for temporary events where rain is possible, QSC recommends its TWS-IO temporary weather shield over the In/Out connectors. The L Class is not designed for long-term outdoor installs.

What is in the box?

The LA108, a 10 ft (3 m) AC power cord with PowerCON TRUE1 connectors, a quick start guide and a safety sheet.
